Choirs celebrate the coming spring

In honor of the coming of spring, the choirs of Pittsburg State University will present their annual spring concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, in the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts at PSU. The concert is free and open to the public. The choirs are under the direction of Susan Marchant.

The concert will feature a variety of works for diverse choral ensembles. Jee Yeun Kim will assist as a conductor in the program. Instrumentalists will include Shu Zhang, Liping Xia, and Alheli Aranda, piano; Maria Goydy Rios, cello; and Daniel Warlop, percussion.

The concert program will include: “Tristis est anima mea,” by Johann Kuhnau; “Come to me, my love,” by Norman Dello Joio; “Timor et tremor,” by Francis Poulenc; “Scarborough Fair,” arranged by Yumiko Matsuoka; “Begin the Beguine,” by Cole Porter and arranged by Andrew Carter; “Moon River,” arranged by Steve Zegree; “Autumn Leaves,” arranged by Paris Rutherford; “August Moonrise,” by Blake Henson; and “Laulaja,” by Einojuhani Rautavaara Koka and arranged by Stephen Hatfield.
