STOMP tickets go on sale

The internationally acclaimed percussion sensation, STOMP, is coming to Pittsburg.

Tickets went on sale this week for the Pittsburg State University Performing Arts and Lecture Series’ presentation of STOMP. The performance takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13, in the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.

STOMP began 20 years ago as a street performance in the U.K. and has since grown to four global productions, including permanent productions in New York and London and North American and European tours. Over the past two decades, STOMP has performed to more than 24 million people in more than 50 countries.

STOMP’s performers “make a rhythm out of anything we can get our hands on that makes a sound,” says co-founder and director Luke Cresswell.

The performers give new life to common household and industrial objects, combining percussion, movement and visual comedy to produce a show that has won numerous awards, including an Academy Award nomination, four Emmy nominations and one Emmy Award. Their television appearances include the London 2012 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony, the Academy Awards and “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”

Tickets for the performance range from $15 to $40 for the general public and may be purchased at the PSU Ticket Office in the Weede Physical Education Building, 1701 S. Homer, Pittsburg, Kan. Tickets may also be purchased by phone or online, 620-235-4796, www.pittstate.edu/tickets. Current fee-paying students may receive a discounted ticket price with their student ID.
