Block Kids Contest at KTC Saturday

The Pittsburg State School of Construction and the southeast Kansas chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction will host the annual Block Kids Contest this Saturday at the Kansas Technology Center.

The annual competition, which challenges first through sixth-graders to build a construction industry-related project of their choosing by using building blocks, will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, in room S102 at the KTC.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each class. An overall prize also will be awarded.

Dennis Audo, assistant professor in the School of Construction, said each prize will relate to the construction industry.

“This is a fun event for the kids, and it just keeps getting more popular by the year,” Audo said. “We want to expose the kids to the field of construction and have a good time while we’re at it. The prizes will include things like age-appropriate tools and toolboxes.”
