Cpt. Justin Dillow knew just what the Pittsburg State University ROTC cadets preparing for their first ride on a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter were feeling, Thursday. Dillow, a 2010 PSU grad originally from Chanute, Kan., was a pilot on one of the three massive machines.
Dillow said he remembers when he first knew he wanted to become a helicopter pilot.
“I was in fifth grade in Galesburg, Kan. “The National Guard flew down and let everyone crawl in and look around,” Dillow said. “That’s when I knew.”
Today, Dillow serves in Ft. Riley with Bravo Company, 3rd battalion, first combat aviation brigade. He said it was an honor to be able to fly a mission to his alma mater to help train the young cadets.
“It is tremendous to come back and see these guys doing what I did four to five years ago,” Dillow said. “It’s great knowing that these cadets are going to go places and farther than they could ever imagine.”
