Students, faculty and staff in Pittsburg State University’s Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing wore pink and gathered for a group photo Monday in recognition of the annual observance of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Mary Carol Pomatto, university professor and director of the school, said promoting awareness around the issue of breast cancer is important because early detection can save lives.
“Many people survive breast cancer when it is detected early,” Pomatto said. “Knowledge can be a powerful tool in the fight against this disease.”
