PSU crowns Homecoming royalty

Pittsburg State University students crowned their Homecoming king and queen, Wednesday, at a convocation in Carnie Smith Stadium.

 

The 2014 Homecoming queen and king are Emily Mika and Brian Walker. Mika, from Shawnee, Kan., is a senior Nursing student. She is the daughter of Robert and the late Terri Mika and was sponsored by the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. Walker is a junior from Coffeyville, Kan., and is the son of Burton and Janice Walker. He is a Plastics Engineering Technology major and was sponsored by the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

 

First runners up were Emma Huskey, from Lincoln, Kan., and T.J. Wiebe, from Clearwater, Kan. Huskey was sponsored by the Newman Club and Wiebe was sponsored by the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. Second runners up were Shannon Ahlstedt, from Newton, Kan., and Connor Callahan, from Prairie Village, Kan. Ahlstedt was sponsored by Enactus, and Callahan was sponsored by Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

 

The king and queen and other members of the court will ride in the Homecoming parade at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, in downtown Pittsburg and will be recognized at the Homecoming football game, which begins at 2 p.m.
