Krimson Kultuur, the student-run store created by Pittsburg State’s Enactus program, recently earned high honors in an innovation awards competition.
The Mid-American Business Deans Association (MABDA) announced that Krimson Kultuur earned second place in the Innovation in Business Education Award program, a program aimed at encouraging “innovation in the pursuit of excellence in business education.”
“We were very excited to receive this award from MABDA,” said Enactus adviser Suzanne Hurt. “The students have worked very hard to create and grow Krimson Kultuur, and an award like this is validation of those efforts.”
Krimson Kultuur, located in downtown Pittsburg, sells items made by local and international artisans. It also serves as a fundraiser for Enactus and gives students valuable work experience.
The store first opened on Fourth Street but moved to its new location at 508 N. Broadway earlier this year. Hurt said the move has been beneficial for the store.
“Being downtown and being a part of that community has been wonderful for us,” she said. “The students enjoy being on Broadway, and we’re able to take advantage of the downtown foot traffic.”
Hurt and Lynn Murray, associate professor of management and marketing, attended the MABDA conference in Chicago to receive the award.
