The Chris Norman Ensemble opens Pittsburg State University’s 2014-15 Solo & Chamber Music Series with a performance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, in the Sharon K. Dean Recital Hall in McCray Hall.
The ensemble is a mixed quartet known for a broad range of music based on the traditional tunes of maritime Canada. Those traditions in turn have their roots in the dances, airs and songs of Scotland, Ireland, Brittany and the U.S.
A number of the ensemble’s arrangements feature one of the finest traditional flute players, supported by pipes, whistle, guitar, mandola, bass, percussion, keyboards and vocals.
Tickets for the performance are $12 for general admission and $8 for persons over 65 or under 18. Full-time PSU students with a valid ID are admitted free. Tickets are available at the PSU Ticket Office in the Weede PE Building, 1701 S. Homer, 620-235-4796. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.pittstate.edu/tickets.
