The Harry Krug Gallery at Pittsburg State University will host an exhibition of the sculpture and mixed media of artist Neil Lawley, beginning on Monday, Aug. 25. The exhibit, entitled “Point Clouds,” will run through Dec. 4.
Lawley is known for his use of reclaimed lumber and other construction materials to create art. His work attempts to evoke the interrelated nature of all things, both machined and natural, across cultures, languages and objects.
Lawley received an associate’s degree in pre-engineering from Trinity Valley Community College, a bachelor’s of fine art degree in studio art and a bachelor’s degree in engineering/art from the University of Texas at Tyler, and a master’s of fine arts degree in studio art from Southern Methodist University. Currently, he is an assistant professor of art at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Mo.
Lawley will discuss his work in an artist’s lecture at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, in 103 Porter Hall.
The Harry Krug Gallery is located in Porter Hall on the Pittsburg State University campus. The gallery is open from 8 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Fridays. Admission is free. For gallery information, call 620-235-4302.
