Few chapters of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority earn the prestigious Crown of Excellence Award. Even fewer win it two years in a row. None win it in three consecutive years.
Until now.
The Eta Eta Chapter at Pittsburg State University recently received the sorority’s top honor for the third year in a row. The award was presented to the chapter at the Alpha Sigma Alpha National Convention and Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
The Crown of Excellence award is given to the highest performing chapter within the national organization of Alpha Sigma Alpha. The top chapters in the country are given the award of Four-Star Chapter and from these select few, the Crown of Excellence Chapter is chosen.
Megan Smejdir, PSU Greek adviser, said she is proud of and excited for the Eta Eta Chapter.
“To be the first chapter to earn the award three years in a row is incredible,” she said. “It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Alpha Sigma Alpha members. I am very proud of them.”
And the accolades don’t stop with Crown of Excellence. Along with being recognized as a Four-Star Chapter, the Eta Eta Chapter also received the Recruitment Excellence Award and the Sidney Gremillion Allen Panhellenic Engagement Award.
The Recruitment Excellence Award, established in 2010, is presented to a chapter that has met its recruitment targets set for the year, has reached campus Quota and Total and has been innovative in its approach to planning and implementing a quality recruitment plan.
The Sidney Gremillion Allen Panhellenic Award is given to the collegiate chapter that displays outstanding Panhellenic spirit and participation. Also, PSU student Natasha Eigenmann earned the sorority’s Outstanding New Member award.
