More than 90 professionals from 12 universities will be at Pittsburg State this week for the annual MIAA University Advancement Summer Conference.
The event, which features a variety of networking and professional development sessions, begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 12, with a welcoming reception at the Wilkinson Alumni Center.
At 10 a.m. Friday, President and CEO for the Kansas Board of Regents Andy Tompkins will address the attendees in room S102 at the Kansas Technology Center.
A variety of roundtable discussions and breakout sessions will follow throughout the day. Featured topics include social media in higher education, engaging millennials and the role of faculty in advancement. A broad range of other topics will be discussed in the roundtable sessions.
Meagan Swafford, assistant director of Alumni and Constituent Relations and one of the key organizers of the conference, said the event allows colleagues from throughout the MIAA to meet, network and discuss issues that all or many are facing.
“This conference gives MIAA peers a chance to get to know each other a little bit and talk about things that are happening in their respective universities and in higher education as a whole,” Swafford said. “It’s meant to be informative, engaging and fun. We’re excited to host it this year.”
