African students share their cultures

The diverse cultures that make up Africa will be on display at Pittsburg State University’s African Day on Friday, April 11.

PSU’s African Student Association will present a public program at 5 p.m. in 109 Grubbs Hall, featuring cultural presentations, music, dance, poetry and fashions from Africa.

Following the cultural presentations, the students will share some of their favorite dishes from their homelands.

Patrick Nwafor, one of the organizers of the event, said that while the African continent is home to a wide variety of cultures, they all share a sense of hospitality and friendliness, which is something the students want their American hosts to experience.

The event is free and open to the public. Free-will donations will be collected to offset the cost of the food.
