Area high school students will learn about careers in nursing and senior students in Pittsburg State University’s Irene Bradley School of Nursing will get to practice their leadership and teaching skills at Nursing Career Day on Thursday, March 27.
Organizers said this week that nearly 100 high school students and more than 70 PSU students are expected to participate in the annual event.
The PSU students will conduct a variety of demonstrations for the high school visitors, including how to start an IV; how to give an injection; CPR; and how to take blood pressure, temperature and pulse. They will also demonstrate the adult, pediatric and infant simulators.
Organizers said the event gives high school students a glimpse into the day-to-day activities of health care professionals and also allows the PSU students an opportunity to demonstrate some of the things they have learned over the past two years.
