The Pittsburg State University Performing Arts and Lecture Series will host a single performance of William Gibson’s “The Miracle Worker,” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, in Pittsburg’s Memorial Auditorium. The play is performed by the Montana Repertory Theatre as part of its 2014 national tour.
“The Miracle Worker” is the moving dramatization of the real-life story of Helen Keller and her tutor, Annie Sullivan. Keller, deaf and blind since infancy, found her way into the world of knowledge and understanding with the help of Sullivan, her gifted tutor. In often emotional and turbulent scenes, Keller overcomes her rage and confusion to triumph over her disabilities.
The Montana Repertory Theatre was established as a professional touring company in 1968. In recent years, the Rep has presented more than 450 performances in more than 350 communities across the U.S.
Tickets for the performance are $12 for the general public and $7 for PSU faculty and staff and for persons 17 and under or 65 and older. PSU Students are admitted free. Seating is reserved on the floor of the auditorium, with balcony seating designated general admission. Tickets may be purchased at the PSU Ticket office in the Weede PE Building, 1701 S. Homer, 620-235-4796, or online at www.pittstate.edu/tickets.
