Guest trumpet recital set for March 2

Jason Dovel will present a free guest trumpet recital at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, in the Sharon Kay Dean Recital Hall in McCray Hall on the Pittsburg State University campus.
A versatile performer on the modern trumpet, Baroque trumpet, and Renaissance cornetto, Dovel joined the University of Kentucky School of Music faculty as assistant professor of trumpet in 2013. Prior to his appointment at UK, he was associate professor of trumpet at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla., where he established a large, comprehensive trumpet program. He has also taught at the University of North Texas and North Central Texas College.
He is active as a soloist and clinician throughout the United States. As an orchestral trumpeter, he has performed with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, Tulsa Ballet, Tulsa Opera, Arkansas Philharmonic, Dallas Opera, Toledo Opera, and Symphony of Northwest Arkansas.
Dovel has recorded numerous discs with the North Texas Wind Symphony (GIA WindWorks), Lone Star Wind Orchestra (Naxos Records), and the Bowling Green Philharmonia (Albany Records).
