Public input sought on Center for the Arts

Anyone who drives by the corner of Homer and Ford streets in Pittsburg can see the progress being made on the new Pittsburg State University Center for the Arts. Now, the public has a chance to give input on what will happen inside the facility once it’s complete.

A public survey has been released that aims to “help maximize the success” of the Center for the Arts. The questionnaire seeks information from Pitt State and community stakeholders that will aid the Center for the Arts Steering Committee in the types of programs selected, ticket prices and how to properly advertise events.

“In about a year’s time, we’re going to have this brand new, beautiful facility on our campus, and we want to gather information and opinions on how we can best use it,” said Alicia Mason, assistant professor in the Department of Communication and facilitator of the survey project. “We want to make sure the Center for the Arts is a facility that everyone can enjoy, and this survey is one way we are going about that.”

Thomas Gregory, a graduate assistant at Pitt State, took on developing the survey as his graduate project. He said he is proud to be a part of a project that will likely have a long-term impact on the success of the Center for the Arts.

“I took this very, very seriously and I understood the pressure involved,” he said. “I liked having the chance to be a part of this because I like being involved and I’m always looking for tangible ways to make a difference. I want to be of service to the university, and I can think of no better way to give back than to help ensure the success of the Center for the Arts.”

The survey, which takes about 15 minutes to complete, can be found here: http://bit.ly/18XCNFq
