Musical dinners help fund choir tour

The Pittsburg State University choirs are singing their way to Scotland. Tickets have gone on sale for two musical dinners that will help finance the choirs’ performance tour to Scotland in the spring.

The first dinner, on Sept. 27, will feature repertoire from musical theater and American popular song. Designed to appeal to a broad range of tastes, the program spans the spectrum from the music of George M. Cohan and Cole Porter to the music of “Les Mis.” The second musical dinner, on Sunday, Feb. 16, celebrates both Valentine’s Day and Scotland.

The September dinner will be accompanied by a silent auction.

Both dinners begin at 6:30 p.m. on their respective dates in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom of the Overman Student Center. Reservations and advance tickets are required. Because these annual events are so popular, about 60 percent of the seating for the September event is already sold.

Individual tickets are $29. Persons wishing to purchase tickets for both the fall and spring dinners may do so at a package price of $53.
