Hispanic Heritage Month observance continues with spoken word artist Frankie Soto

Pittsburg State University’s observance of Hispanic Heritage Month continues on Monday, Sept. 23, with a presentation by spoken word artist Frankie A. Soto, also known as Hidden Legacy. Soto will share his poetry and humor in a presentation at 7 p.m. in the Governors Room of the Overman Student Center.

Soto is a native of New York and his experience growing up as a Spanglish speaking kid in a Puerto Rican home infuses his poetry and his subject matter. Soto brings a comical undertone to serious cultural, racial and political subject matter.

Critics say Soto’s multicultural style has helped bring spoken word performance into the mainstream. A popular performer on college campuses across the U.S., Soto joined forces with national poets Shadokat & Soulful Jones to form the group Words With A Pulse, in 2008.
