Nature Reach plans summer camps for kids

Delia Lister, coordinator for Pittsburg State University’s Nature Reach Program, said this week that only a few openings remain for the two summer camps hosted in June and July by Nature Reach and the Sperry-Galligar Audubon Society.

“We limit the camps to just 10 students so they have the best experience possible,” Lister said.

The first camp, for youngsters who have just completed or are just entering fifth grade, will run from 9 a.m. until noon, June 17-21. The second camp, for youngsters who have just completed or who are just entering second grade, will run from 9 a.m. until noon, July 15-19. Both camps will be held at the Nature Reach Preserve southwest of Pittsburg. The cost for each is $65 per camper.

In addition to spending time in the garden learning about plants, children in each camp will learn about insects, reptiles and birds.
