Exhibit features graduates works

Two Pittsburg State University graduates have returned to campus in a dramatic way.

The work of Annie Pennington and Jillian Palone is on exhibit in the Harry Krug Gallery in Porter Hall on the PSU campus through May 1. The exhibit, entitled “Reunited,” features the metalworking and sculptural jewelry of the former students, who have gone on to build successful careers in the art world.

The exhibit includes work from each artist’s individual portfolio as well as some collaborative pieces. For the collaborative works, the artists each began a piece and then sent it to the other so they could add a “mystery component” and complete the work.

After earning their bachelor’s degrees in fine arts from PSU, Pennington and Palone both went on to earn master’s degrees in fine arts from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Pennington is currently the associate editor of the Art Jewelry magazine in Waukesha, Wis. Palone is the studio manager in the Metals Department at the Southwest School of Art in San Antonio, Texas.

The artists will present public lectures about their work at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, in Room 409, Russ Hall. A reception will follow in Porter Hall.

The Harry Krug Gallery is open from 8 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Fridays. There is no admission fee.
