Choirs present spring concert

The Choirs of Pittsburg State University will present their annual spring concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, in the Sharon Kay Dean Recital Hall, located in McCray Hall on the PSU campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

The University Choir, PSU Chorale, and Jazz Choir are under the direction of Susan Marchant. 

For the March 10 concert, conductor Robert Jenkins and organist Ian Classe will collaborate in the Chorale’s performance of the Bernard Rose “O praise God in His Holiness.” Meiling Jin will serve as pianist for the University Choir. Other instrumentalists will include cellist Maria Goydy Rios and percussionists Seth Boyer, Daniel McDill, Bryce Henson, and Katie Day. Vocal soloists will include Madison Youngberg King, Alyssa Marsh, Jeeyeun Kim, Kalee Woody, Daniel McDill, Aaron Hayse, Whitney Kraft, Ariele Foltz, and Anna Hautaniemi.

The remainder of the concert program includes:

“A Child’s Prayer,” by James MacMillan; works from “Five Flower Songs,” by Benjamin Britten; “I was glad,” by Henry Purcell; “The Deer’s Cry,” by Arvo Pärt; works from the “Vesperae solennes de confessore,” K. 339, by W.A. Mozart; “Walk Together, Children,” by Moses Hogan; “The water is wide,” arranged by Craig Hella Johnson; “And death shall have no dominion,” by Kenneth Jennings; “Ye Jaliya-o,” by Joan Szymko; “Do not go gentle,” by David Childs; “My flight for Heaven,” by Blake Henson; “L-O-V-E,” arranged by Kirby Shaw; “I wish you love,” arranged by Ed Lojeski; and “'Già torna a rallegrar l’aria e la terra,” by Luca Marenzio.
