Poet begins Black History Month observance

Pittsburg State University will begin its observance of Black History Month with a free performance by poet Xplicit at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, in the Overman Student Center’s U-Club. The event is sponsored by the PSU Office of Student Diversity and the PSU Black Student Association.

Life experience is the inspiration for Brandon Xplicit’s poetry, which includes themes such as financial responsibility, credit cards, family and relationship struggles, responsible college living, and Black history. A former college math instructor, Xplicit still has a passion for education, and he has performed on hundreds of college campuses across the U.S.

Recently, Xplicit released his fourth CD, entitled “Life After Poetry.” Despite his busy performance schedule, Xplicit remains involved in his community, mentoring young men through Big Brother/Big Sister and various other organizations.

For more information, call the Office of Student Diversity, 620-235-4077.
