New art exhibit opens

A new exhibit, “Life Industries,” printmaking and sculpture by artist Andrew Au, opens on Friday, Jan. 18, in the Harry Krug Gallery at Pittsburg State University. The exhibit closes on March 7 and the artist will present a public lecture about his work at 4 p.m. in 103 Porter Hall on that day.

Au is a professor of art at the Miami University-Middletown in Middletown, Ohio. His work includes works on paper, printmaking and sculptures. “Life Industries” explores product design and manufactured objects seen as living organisms. His work includes gouache paintings, silkscreen prints and sculptural reproductions to create the feeling of a natural history display.

Au’s work has been exhibited across the U.S. and internationally.

The Harry Krug Gallery is located in Porter Hall and admission is free. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Fridays. For more information, call Gallery Director S. Portico Bowman at 620-235-4305.
