Solo & Chamber Series presents Wayward Sisters

The Pittsburg State University Solo and Chamber Music Series reaches the mid point of its 2012-13 schedule with a performance by Wayward Sisters at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, in McCray Hall.

Wayward Sisters is comprised of Beth Wenstrom (baroque violin), Anne Timberlake (recorders), Anna Steinhoff (baroque cello) and John Lenti (theorbo and guitar). In 2011, the group won the Early Music America/Naxos recording competition, and recorded their debut CD with Naxos during the 2011-2012 season.

Since debuting in 2009, Wayward Sisters has performed across the U.S., including appearing as emerging artists on the Newberry Consort's 2010-2011 concert season. The group’s name refers not only to Henry Purcell's vivid conjuring of Shakespeare's witches, but to the group members' scattered lives and continuing commitment to making music together.

For their Pittsburg performance, Wayward Sisters will present a program titled “The Naughty List: Music by Braggarts, Hotheads, Curmudgeons and Snobs.”

Tickets for the performance are $12 for general admission and $8 for persons over 65 or under 18. PSU students are admitted free. Season tickets and “Any-Four” ticket packages are available at a lower price than individual tickets. Tickets may be purchased at the PSU Ticket Office in the Weede PE Building, 1701 S. Homer, by phone (620-235-4796) or online at www.pittstate.edu/tickets.
