Master Sergeant Timothy J. Nellessen

About 

Master Sergeant Timothy J. Nellessen is from Omaha, Nebraska. Upon completing OSUT in 2004, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While there he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II and III, and to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom VII and VIII, and again for Operation Enduring Freedom IX and X. He then was assigned as an Instructor/Writer at the Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course from 2010 to 2013. In 2013, he was then assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, at Fort Riley, Kansas where he served as a Platoon Sergeant and deployed in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel and Operation New Dawn. He was then assigned as a Platoon Sergeant in Brawler Company, 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and served further as the First Sergeant for Charlie and Headquarter and Headquarters Companies. He is currently assigned as the Senior Military Instructor at the ROTC program at Pittsburg State University, in Pittsburg, Kansas. 

Master Sergeant Nellessen’s military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the U.S. Army Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Valorous Unit Citation with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Good Conduct Medal with 4 Bronze Knots, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 1 Campaign Star, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with the numeral 4, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal. His decorations include the Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Expert Infantryman Badge, and Ranger Tab. His foreign awards include the El Salvadorian Airborne Wings. He is currently enrolled in the Bachelors of Business Administration at Troy University in Alabama. Master Sergeant Nellessen is married to Kandace Nellessen of Pomona, Kansas and they have 3 children, Grace, 8, Jack, 7, and Jace, 2.
