Stipends for study in Japan that is focused on diversity. Up to $2500 for a semester.

Bridging Scholarship

Boren

For U.S. undergraduate or graduate students studying abroad for a semester or longer. Students must study a language and work for the federal government for at least one year after graduation.

Critical Language Scholarship

For U.S. undergraduate or graduate students wanting to study a critical language during the summer.

DAAD

A wide variety of scholarships for study abroad in Germany.

Are you studying on a faculty-led program operated by EF Study Abroad? Look at their scholarship opportunities. Deadlines vary and are listed on the website. Your faculty-led program must be operated by EF Tours in order to be eligible.

Freeman Asia Scholarship

For U.S. undergraduate students studying in East or Southeast Asia.

Fund for Education Abroad

For U.S. undergraduate students who are underrepresented in the college student population.

Gilman Scholarship

For U.S. undergraduate students who receive Pell grants.

Gilman McCain Scholarship

For U.S. undergraduate students who are a dependent child of an active duty military member.

Going awards two schoalrships of $1500 each toward an upcoming program. Deadlines are March 15th and October 15th. 

This scholarship is open to U.S citizens (or residents) who are full-time students. Undergraduate students and graduate students can apply.

The Explore the World Travel Scholarship awards 15 $2000 scholarships to U.S. citizens who can demonstrate financial need. Open to undergraduates and graduates.

The application deadline is October 25, 2024 for travel between March 8, 2025-August 15, 2026.

James B Pearson Fellowship

For graduate students who are Kansas residents and studying foreign affairs.

Kansas Paraguay Partners Scholarship

For undergraduate students to study at a university in Paraguay.

Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant

For U.S. undergraduate students with a 3.75 gpa or greater.

Rotary Global Grants

For graduate students studying abroad.

For undergraduate and graduate students who want to study abroad in Japan.

Toshizo Watanabe Study Abroad Scholarship Program

Tortuga Study Abroad Scholarship awards 2 $1,000 scholarships to U.S. citizens who are full-time undergraduate students applying to a credit-bearing program.

Spring 2025 programs, apply by November 15, 2024.

Fall 2025 programs, apply by April 15, 2025.

WorldStrides offers three scholarship opportunities: Higher Ed Traveler, Diversity & Inclusion, and the Natalie Shea Memorial Scholarships. 

Your faculty-led program must be operated by Worldstrides to be eligible.

Eligiblity varies based on program date and student status.

PSU Study Abroad Stipends


Eligible PSU students can receive a study abroad stipend (aka-free money!) from the Office of International Programs and Services if they apply by the application deadline.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Be enrolled in at least a one-credit hour class attached to the study abroad program.
  • Have at least a 2.5 GPA.
  • Be a full-time degree-seeking PSU student.
  • Students cannot receive an Honors College Stipend for the same study abroad program.
  • Students are eligible for one faculty-led stipend and one individual program stipend during their academic program (undergraduate, graduate).
  • Apply by the application deadline (October 1st for Spring study abroad/ March 1st for Fall or Summer study abroad). 

The amount of the Study Abroad Stipend varies depending on the number of credits associated with the program, the total cost, and the duration of the program. After the Study Abroad Committee approves a PSU student to study abroad, the Committee will also award the stipend amount. 


PSU Scholarships


You may be eligible to use the scholarships that you are currently receiving at PSU while you study abroad. Please contact Jamie Rink in the Office of Financial Assistance to find out more.
