International Advocates

What is IA?

Pittsburg State University international students may apply for acceptance into a service group known as International Advocates (IA). The mission of the IAs is to advocate for international students and intercultural learning and understanding on the Pitt State Campus and community. One of the primary roles and requirements of an IA is to participate in the new international student orientation as an Orientation Leader.

Each semester a group of Orientation Leaders consisting of International Advocates and Volunteers assist incoming international students as they acclimate to their new culture. All Orientation Leaders must follow the guidelines and apply online.

International Advocates receive a scholarship of $1000 in the form of a tuition waiver for the semester they are participating in the program.
