Hispanic Banda Concert to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month

The first Hispanic Music Festival will help kick off Hispanic Heritage Month at Pittsburg State University on Sept 15 at 3 p.m. at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, 1711 S. Homer.  

Catch performances from the Pittsburg Hispanic Banda, SEK Folkloric, Patrick Howle, and Xaiver Moore.  

It is one of six concerts planned as part of the festival, organized by piano instructor Isaac Hernandez, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month which runs through Oct. 15.    

Musicians from Mexico will come to campus as guest artists throughout the festival, which also will showcase students, faculty, alumni, and community members. A few performers are from Paraguay.  

The concert will be free and open to the campus and community to attend.
