This spring, the college is celebrating its 25th anniversary year as an accredited business school by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
“This distinction reflects the dedication of our faculty and staff to provide excellent classroom instruction, high-quality research, and positive social impact in our community and region,” said Dean Paul Grimes.
After an extensive review of its business programs, Pitt State was one of 45 institutions world-wide to earn a five-year reaccreditation from the AACSB this academic year.
Achieving AACSB accreditation is a rigorous process that includes an in-depth assessment of internal activities, mentorship with an AACSB advisor, and a peer evaluation focused on continuous improvement.
During this multiyear process, colleges focus on developing and implementing a plan to achieve their mission and align with AACSB’s accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation, research, and teaching and learning.
“The commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of each school’s dedication— not only to its students, alumni network, and greater business community, but to society as a whole,” said Stephanie Bryant, executive vice president and global chief accreditation officer at AACSB.
The review team commended the Kelce College for a number of innovative initiatives, including its Women@Work professional organization, the Business Studies degree program which allows students to stack academic certificates into tailor-made majors, and the new Center for Student Engagement and Support.
The Kelce College of Business includes undergraduate degree programs in Accounting, Business Economics, Business Studies, Computer Information Systems, Finance, Management, and Marketing. At the graduate level, the college offers a Master of Business Administration with various emphases and a Master of Professional Accounting.
Numerous study abroad opportunities prepare KCOB students for the global marketplace, and classes often participate in real-world projects with Pittsburg-based businesses — many of them national and international in scope.
An Executive on Campus program connects local CEOs and company presidents with students in the classroom.
The college is annually ranked among the country's Best Business Schools by the Princeton Review and among the top 5 Family Friendly business schools in the country.
A new home for the KCOB will serve as the anchor for Pitt State's downtown educational district.
“We’re looking forward to our next chapter as we prepare for our new downtown location as part of the Gorilla Rising Project,” Grimes said.
