1-26-22 University reports 36 students in isolation, 50 positives at health center

Pittsburg State University reports that 92 symptomatic students were tested for COVID-19 at the Bryant Student Health Center from Jan. 19-25. Of those, 50 were positive. Currently, 36 students are in isolation.

In the same period, seven faculty or staff members reported an infection.

This report is the first after the winter break. Coursework began Jan. 18.

The health center also administered 22 COVID-19 vaccines in the same period, most of which were booster doses. The Community Health Center of SEK hosted a vaccine and booster clinic on campus on Jan. 24 and administered 37 doses.

Bryant Student Health Center Director of Operations Rita Girth noted that the only tested/positive numbers the university can reliably report are those from the health center. Isolation numbers can differ between reporting agencies due to students being tested elsewhere and then later reporting as PSU students via the Crawford County Health Department.

Quarantine numbers are managed solely by the Crawford County Health Department. Numbers change daily.
