About the Timmons Chapel Columbarium

Pittsburg State University is pleased to announce the availability of a columbarium for alumni and friends who want to forever remain a part of the PSU campus. Located on the east side of Timmons Chapel, the columbarium serves as a place of reflection and remembrance of PSU graduates, faculty, staff, and donors.

Each niche holds two urns and is covered with a granite plate engraved with biographical information. The $4,000 purchase price of a niche is an economical option to traditional burial and includes two urns, preparation of the niche, engraving of the niche cover, and ongoing maintenance.

The Timmons Chapel Columbarium offers:

  • A secure, peaceful and comforting repository for individuals who love the university
  • 112 niches, each holding up to two urns
  • Perpetual maintenance
  • Easy access on the east side of Timmons Chapel

What is a Columbarium?

A columbarium is a wall of niches constructed to house urns that contain the cremated ashes of decedents. Several universities, such as the University of Notre Dame, Duke University, and the University of Southern California, have built columbaria to serve as on-campus final resting places for faculty, staff, alumni and friends.
