Communication Research Lab

About Us

The Department of Communication engages in a rich variety of research in the field of Communication and related disciplines. The Department of Communication's Communication Research Laboratory (CRL) is located on the 3rd floor of Grubbs Hall. The space provides tools for undergraduate and graduate students to conduct independent quantitative and qualitative research on communication processes related to message production, message effects, reception, and social interaction.

Located in room 308, the research laboratory offers workstations and software that allows for survey construction, preparation, and data collection. The space is available for carrying out experiments and surveys, including message testing, formative campaign research, audience responses to media entertainment and news, and campus and community surveys. The qualitative research area offers space for conducting focus groups and in-depth interviews. Equipment is available for video and audio recording, transcription and Skype sessions.

We encourage our undergraduate and graduate students to explore our faculty’s research areas and contact them directly if interested in becoming involved with research.
