This workshop will focus on three areas of LPSS:

Handcuffing – will cover the steps for handcuffing Standing, kneeling, and prone suspects. Will also cover aspects of pat downs and searches of suspects after custody.

Responding to Crimes in Progress / Securing the Crime Scene -  This course will focus on the specific steps that officers take when responding to different types of crimes in progress. It will focus on officer safety, securing the crime scene, identifying needed evidence, rendering aid to victims, capturing suspects, communication with dispatch and more. Setting up perimeters and briefing responding units on known information.



Matthew Vogt - obtained his bachelor's degree in Sociology from Tabor College with an emphasis in criminal justice. Matt has worked for over 10 years in law enforcement serving in many rolls such as an field training officer, SWAT team member, K9 handler and drug investigator. He is currently finishing his masters degree with Wichita State University in Criminal Justice.

Matt works as the Lead Faculty for the Police Science program at Wichita Area Technical College as well as the Program Director for Private Security Officer Training in the metro area. He is in his 4th year in these positions.
