Presented By: J.T. Knoll

Location: Axe Library - Basement

Event details

Pittsburg State University alumnus J.T. Knoll will read from his new book of poetry, Counterpart, at the university on Sunday, Dec. 5. The reading, which is free, will take place in the basement level of PSU’s Axe Library at 2 p.m.

Knoll is a founding member of White Buffalo and an award-winning columnist for the Morning Sun. His previous book of poetry, Ghost Sign — co-authored with fellow PSU alumni Al Ortolani, Adam Jameson, and Melissa Fite Johnson — was selected as a Kansas Notable Book for 2017.

“Shifting between a blue-collar Kansas that may no longer exist and the present, Knoll creates a personal mythology of experience,” Troy Schoultz, author of No Quiet Entrances, wrote of Counterpart. “This is poetry on a very human level, delivered at a time when we might desperately need it the most.”

Other titles by Knoll include the column collections Paperboy and Where the Pavement Ends; audio recordings of poetry, songs, and stories called True Stories and Fetch Crazy; and a live recording of boyhood memories called The Republic of Frontenac.

Knoll’s book will be available for purchase at a reception following the reading.
