The second annual Pittsburg State University English and Modern Languages
High School English Day on April 9, 2020. Our theme for this year will be Write Like a Gorilla. We will
offer three sessions that will run concurrently three times so that all students will have the
opportunity to attend all three sessions.
Schedule of events:
8:30-9:00 Check-in, Axe Library
9:00-9:45 Student sessions
10:00-10:45 Student sessions
11:00-11:45 Student sessions
11:45-1:00 Lunch on your own
1:00-2:00 Reception
2:00-2:40 Tours of Library and Writing Center
There will also be a Short Story Contest open only to those students who will attend High School
English Day. Students may submit a short story by March 16 to be considered for the contest. The
winner will receive a $500 scholarship from the PSU English and Modern Languages Department. Read more specific guidelines and have your students submit
their stories at emeraldcity.submittable.com/submit.
Attendance is capped at 120 students, 10 students per school. We will accept the first 12 schools that
