This free event will open with a performance by the Pittsburg State University Symphonic Band, under the direction of A. Douglas Whitten.
In their portion of the program, the PSU Wind Ensemble brings together music that is both beautiful and powerful. This program culminates in a selection from David Maslanka's transcendent 9th symphony, and the world premiere of a composition by Roy Magnuson written in tribute to Maslanka.
This program will also feature guest conductors Matthew Reimer, and Eric Stark in his first concert as a graduate conducting student. Compositions include:
