Event details

Thirty years ago, a group of volunteers came together from across Kansas to establish a statewide chapter of The Nature Conservancy. This month, they’ll gather at Pittsburg State University to celebrate accomplishments and look to the future.

The gathering will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, 1711 S. Homer, Pittsburg, and it is open to the public.

After a welcome by PSU Vice President and Provost Howard Smith, Nature Conservancy Director Rob Manes will recap the organization’s 30-year history in Kansas and its plans for the next 30 years. Highlights will include soil health, irrigation efficiency, and urban rivers.

Four PSU Biology Department faculty will provide overviews of projects they are working on that impact the local community and the region.
