School Psychology Ed.S.

Three paths available

1. Traditional Path (M.S. + Ed.S. in School Psychology)

For students entering with a bachelor’s degree. This is the primary pathway into the profession of school psychology. Students complete a structured sequence of graduate training leading to both a Master of Science (M.S.) and an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree

Program overview:

  • 66 total credit hours (M.S. 36 cr hrs + Ed.S. - 30 cr hrs )
  • Cohort-based progression through coursework and practicum
  • Culminates in a full-time internship required for licensure

2. Advanced Standing Ed.S. Path

For students with prior graduate training in school psychology. Designed for applicants who already hold a master’s degree in school psychology or have completed graduate coursework in school psychology at another institution.

This pathway allows students to transfer prior training and complete remaining requirements for the Ed.S. degree and internship.

Program Overview:

  • Individualized plan of study based on transcript review
  • Focus on completing advanced coursework and field requirements
  • Leads to Ed.S. degree and internship eligibility

3. Respecialization Path

New for Fall 2026. Application is open.

For professionals transitioning from related fields. Designed for individuals with graduate degrees in related fields (e.g., education, counseling, behavior analysis) who are seeking to transition into school psychology.

Program Overview:

  • Individualized plan of study based on transcript and syllabus review
  • Approximately 45 credit hours in a hybrid format
  • Includes both foundational and applied coursework
  • Leads to Ed.S. degree and licensure eligibility
  • Fully aligned with NASP and KSDE standards

Ed.S Program Structure

Our program is designed to prepare you for the School Psychologist license through the Kansas Department of Education and national certification through the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).

We offer a comprehensive 3-year program culminating in a Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) degree.

The first year focuses on the Master of Science program, with the second year dedicated to completing the specialist's degree. The third year provides hands-on experience as a School Psychologist Intern in schools.

The program accommodates various schedules, allowing working professionals to coordinate classes with their work commitments.

Application Process School Psychology Program

Application deadlines are March 1 for summer or fall admission and October 1 for spring admission.
