Hispanic Heritage Month speaker seeks to inspire

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Pittsburg State University Office of Student Diversity, will sponsor a free presentation by Andres Lara, an author and motivational speaker billed as “The Cuban Guy.” Lara will speak at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom of the Overman Student Center.
Lara graduated with honors from Montclair State University where he majored in speech Communication and minored in creative writing. He is the author of several books, including "Inspire The Sleeping Giant Within," "How To Stay Motivated During Difficult Times," and "The Finish Line."
At the age of 24, Lara is the CEO of A. Success Training, the former president of Inspiration Magazine, and is lectures extensively across the U.S.
Lara’s inspirational story begins with his escape from Cuba at the age of 16. He arrived in the U.S. without his parents, without money and knowing no English. For a while, he was homeless.
Lara’s message to students is intended to inspire them to achieve and reach their own dreams.
