Actor portrays "Oz" historian, novelist

October 28, 2008 12:00AM

Audience members are invited to take a trip to the Land of Oz during "L. Frank Baum, Royal Historian of Oz," a program in which an actor will bring the "Oz" novelist back to life for an evening's entertainment and education.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom of Overman Student Center at Pittsburg State University.

Actor/lecturer Fred Krebbs will portray the prolific Baum, whose 14 "Oz" books are among the most popular children's literature ever written. Krebbs, a professor of history at Johnson County Community College, lectured at PSU in 2000 on social reformer Charles Sheldon.

Both events are sponsored by the Friends of Axe Library, a group that helps publicize the library and choose events to be held in the building. Community members interested in joining the group should call Jane Victor at (620) 235-4886, or Bob Walter at (620) 235-4878.
