Holiday shoppers find PSU gifts through TECA

Shoppers searching for Christmas gifts for their favorite Gorilla fans can get something for their loved ones while supporting a Pittsburg State University student organization.
The PSU Technology Education Collegiate Association (TECA), a student organization for technology education majors, has seen a surge to their website this holiday season. On their site, the group sells products ranging from candy jars to tea glasses to salt and pepper shakers - all engraved with PSU insignia.
Andy Klenke, associate professor of technology education, said TECA has long raised money by making and selling a line of Pitt State products, both online and at PSU football games. The profits go toward the group's expenses when traveling and competing at national competitions. Those competitions focus on skills these future educators will need, such as creating teaching lessons, problem solving, and manufacturing.
"We typically do well at these competitions, and I expect that to be the case again this spring," he said. "The community has been really good at supporting us, and we really appreciate that."
The online TECA store, which can be viewed at http://www.pittstate.edu/department/tech-workforce/technology-education/teca-store.dot, has images and an order form for nearly 40 products, including engraved mirrors, business card holders, jewelry, pens, plaques, and more.
The products can be purchased in time for the holidays by contacting Klenke at amklenke@pittstate.edu or 620-235-4372.
