Pittsburg State University is gearing up for two sessions of summer classes beginning on June 7. University officials say there is still time to enroll and special summer financial aid is available for many students.
Melinda Roelfs, director of the Office of Admission, said people find summer classes attractive for a variety of reasons.
"For some, it is a way to speed up the process of getting a degree," she said. "Many recent high school graduates take summer classes to get a jump start on their college careers and other students just appreciate the more informal atmosphere of summer courses. And, there are some students who simply enjoy learning and want to take a class or a workshop on a topic that interests them, even if they aren't necessarily pursuing a degree."
The first summer session runs from June 7 through July 2. The second summer session runs July 6 through July 30. In addition to regular summer classes, a number of short courses and workshops are also available.
