University prepares for winter storm

The university administrative team is keeping a close eye on a winter storm that may have southeast Kansas in its sights. This morning, the National Weather Service upgraded a winter storm watch to a winter storm warning for Crawford County. Snow predictions have varied widely.
President Steve Scott said a decision about whether to put the university's new inclement weather policy in place would likely be made during the nighttime/early morning hours.
There are several ways that the campus community will be notified, should it become necessary to implement the university's inclement weather policy. Three options are possible. The university could open as usual on Friday and classes would be held. The university could open on a delayed basis to give time for workers to clear parking lots and sidewalks. The university could close.
If the university closes or opens on a delayed basis, notice will be made in the following ways: text message alert (for those who have signed up); e-mail, the PSU home page; and traditional media (KOAM-TV, Fox 14-TV, KSN-TV, KODE-TV, KKOW radio).
