Axe Library celebrates 30 years

November 10, 2009 12:00AM

Axe Library will celebrate 30 years with a program at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the library's browsing area. The library's roots go back to the establishment of the school in 1903. Next Wednesday's celebration marks the move from Porter Hall to the current building in 1979.

Bob Walter, dean of learning resources, will be the master of ceremonies for the celebration, which will include Randy Roberts, curator of special collections; and Cynthia Pfannenstiel, who recently retired as coordinator of public services. The guest speaker will be Suzanne Arruda, author of the Jade del Cameron series of mystery adventures. Music will be provided by the PSU Brass Quintet, under the direction of Bob Kehle. Kehle also played at the opening ceremonies for the building.

Refreshments will be served. The celebration is sponsored by the Friends of Axe Library.
