Transitions (UGS 101) is a one credit-hour course designed to assist students in the transition to university life from another institution of higher education, a work environment, a foreign country, or other situations that would benefit from this assistance. Emphasis is placed on academic, personal and social development necessary to be a successful and engaged member in the university community. 

All new Exploratory Studies (undeclared) students take Transitions in their first semester of enrollment at PSU. 

Special sections are available to students in the Transfer Leader Scholars Program, students seeking a BSEd who have not yet been admitted to Teacher Education and who have taken an Introduction to Education course, and International Students


Course Objective

To provide information that will assist the student in making a smoother and more successful transition to Pittsburg State University by:

  1. providing information about campus services
  2. providing training in the use of the GUS enrollment system
  3. encouraging participation in campus organization and events
  4. introducing community services and amenities
  5. providing information on study skills
  6. providing information on financial assistance
  7. providing a faculty/staff mentor
