Rules

The Basics

  1. Every member of the team is responsible for knowing all of the rules of the competition.
  2. Disney Trivia Night is a team competition.  Teams may consist of 1 to 4 members.  No more than four members are allowed.
  3. All members of the team must be current PSU students.

 Registration

  1. Registration forms will be located on the SAC webpage and in the CAC office.  Completed registration forms are due by 4:30pm March 28th in the CAC office.
  2. One member of the team will be designated the team captain.  All communication from SAC to the team will be through the team captain.

Any changes in the team must be reported to Catherine Geiger (catherine_geiger@hotmail.com) by April 7th.

Game Play Rules

  1. All correct answers are worth ten points.
  2. The room will consist of a moderator who will read the questions, and a judge who will make the final call if an error during game play occurs.
  3. Once the moderator has finished reading the question, players have thirty seconds to buzz in and answer the question.  If no one answers the question in the allotted time then the moderator will reveal the answer and move on to the next question.
  4. If a player interrupts the moderator before the moderator is done reading the question and answers correctly, they receive the normal points.  If a player interrupts and gets the answer wrong, then the team will receive negative five points.  The moderator will then reread the question in its entirety for the other team, which will have the remaining time plus five seconds to answer.
  5. Once a player buzzes in, they have to be recognized before they can answer the question.  If a player buzzes and answers before they are recognized, even if they answer correctly, they moderator will say “I can’t accept that answer” and the other team will be given a change to answer.
  6. If at any time the team feels an answer to a question is wrong (it happens, we’re all human) then the team captain can challenge the question.  In this event the judge will consider what the team has to say and either stand by the answer, or use a replacement question.
  7. If at any time there is an error during game play, such as the moderator prematurely revealing an answer, then a replacement question will be used.
