PSU Tobacco Task Force - Should Pittsburg State become a tobacco free campus?

It’s a good question, and one that the Tobacco Policy Task Force is exploring right now. As with any difficult topic, there are no easy answers, which is why we’re asking for your input.

In the spring of 2012 the students of Pittsburg State University voted overwhelmingly to support the idea of a tobacco free campus. This referendum voted prompted university administration to form a task force to develop a final recommendation.

Through the use of focus groups, surveys and campus forums, this task force will develop a final recommendation for the president to review.

The Senate also works to provide representation and to serve as a liaison to the University administration, Kansas Board of Regents and others regarding issues of concern. The Senate also provides channels for the Unclassified Professional Personnel staff to participate in university governance; and formulate recommendations to the University President regarding policies and procedures that relate to the concerns of the Unclassified Professional Personnel at Pittsburg State University.

The University Unclassified Staff Senate meets the first Wednesday of the month at 3pm in the Inaugural Room of the Overman Student Center. All meetings are open to members of the Unclassified Professional Personnel. We invite you to join us.

Our core values here at Saia Smile Center are to establish lifelong relationships based on trust. We focus strongly on educating our patients on how to better take care of them as a whole, paying particular attention to how the mouth is “the opening to the entire body.” (i.e., the relationship between periodontal disease, heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis.) We hear repeatedly from our patients that they were “scared to go to the dentist” in the past, but we have relieved their fears, renewed their trust, and excited them to act “preventatively” in their oral health needs. We encourage you to keep your regular recall appointments, so treatment can be diagnosed at an early stage, and prevent you, the patient, from having painful emergencies at inconvenient times.

As a comprehensive general dental office, we provide a wide range of services, including Invisalign/Invisalign Teen {Orthodontics}, Adult/Child Hygiene {Periodontics}, Digital X-Rays, Digital Panoramic, iTero Digital Scanner, Crowns, Veneers, Cosmetic Bonding, Bridges, Crown Lengthening, ZOOM!
