Lynette Olson, Pittsburg State University’s provost and vice president for academic affairs, has announced the appointment of Lee Young as the university’s new associate vice president for enrollment management and student success.
“Mr. Young has years of experience in enrollment management and service to students,” Olson said. “We believe his enthusiasm and experience will serve Pittsburg State very well in this important role.”
As associate vice president for enrollment management and student success, Young will be responsible for the university’s strategic enrollment management initiatives. He will oversee various student support services that focus on student recruitment and retention, including admissions, academic advisement, student financial assistance, student diversity, the registrar, international programs, student accommodations and the Honors College.
"I am extremely honored and excited about becoming a member of the Pittsburg State University Family," Young said.
Young comes to PSU from Virginia Union University, where he was named vice president for enrollment management and student affairs in 2012. He served as vice provost for enrollment management, student services and diversity at Nevada State College in Las Vegas, Nev., from 2008-2012.
Young’s experience also includes serving as associate vice chancellor for academic affairs and enrollment management at North Carolina A&T State University, associate vice president for enrollment services at Indiana State University, assistant dean of enrollment services at Augusta State University, and director of admissions at Tuskegee University.
Young earned a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in history from Jackson State University. He expects to complete his Ph.D. in urban higher education leadership, also from Jackson State, this year.
