Representatives from the Kansas Department of Commerce, Department of Labor and Board of Regents will visit Pittsburg State University’s Kansas Technology Center on Tuesday, Dec. 11, as part of their Kansas Skills Tour.
The state representatives will meet with Crossland Construction CEO Ivan Crossland at 4:15 p.m. in KTC Room S102. Scheduled to attend and speak are Commerce Secretary Pat George, Interim Labor Secretary Lana Gordon, Deputy Commerce/Labor Secretary Mike Copeland and Kansas Board of Regents Vice President of Workforce Development Blake Flanders.
Jim Otter, PSU School of Construction chairman, will provide opening remarks for the session.
The statewide tour is aimed at promoting the state’s effort to build a certified, highly qualified workforce for business and industry in the state, according to the state’s website.
The tour is an extension of the Kansas Skills Summit led by Gov. Sam Brownback on Oct. 29 in Wichita and will include stops in Salina, Norton, Hutchinson, Winfield and Lenexa.
