To commemorate their fifth year at Pittsburg State University, the Barnes and Noble Gorilla Bookstore will celebrate with an anniversary party featuring faculty and alumni authors on Friday, April 29.
The celebration will run from 1 to 3 p.m. at the bookstore, located inside Overman Student Center. The highlight of the afternoon will be visits from nine authors including Chad Pio, author of the recently released "Pride of Pittsburg," a story about a young boy named Gus with aspirations of playing for the Pitt State Gorilla football team.
Other authors who will be in attendance to promote their works and sign copies of their most recent books include J.T. Knoll, prevention and wellness coordinator; Randy Roberts, curator of special collections; Karen Stolz, Kathleen DeGrave, Laura Washburn, and Casie Hermansson, all English professors; and Roland Sodowsky and Al Ortolani, both PSU alumni.
"We're excited to have these authors here, and we appreciate the time they're taking to participate in our celebration," said Fawn Baker, manager of Gorilla Bookstore. "This is our way of thanking PSU for five great years."
The bookstore will have refreshments and a free gift for the first 100 customers during the event. The store is also offering their rolled T-shirts at a discount through the end of the week.
